Scarborough

Monday 18th January 2021

You can immerse yourself in Scarborough’s history at the 3,000-year-old Scarborough Castle which offers a glimpse into the past while presenting you with some amazing panoramic vistas across its coastline thanks to the vantage point that the castle is situated upon. Play on the grassy headland, and grab a coffee in the Master Gunner’s house.

Another must-see attraction of Scarborough is the Rotunda Museum of Geology, one of the oldest purpose-built museums still in use in the United Kingdom. The curved grade 2 listed building was constructed in 1829 as one of the country’s first purpose-built museums. The museum is full of fascinating objects, from fossils found on East Yorkshire’s Dinosaur Coast to Gristhorpe Man, the skeleton and coffin of a Bronze Age man, which is the best example of a tree burial in Britain.

Venture down to the seafront to enjoy the traditional amusement arcades, ice cream parlours, shellfish stalls, beach huts, and not to forget the glorious beaches which look out onto the vast shimmering expanses of blue.

Cromer & Sheringham

Monday 18th January 2021

Sheringham
Another traditional seaside town, once an old fishing village – and that heritage is still evident today. Sheringham’s Blue Flag beach is family-friendly and has scenic walks along the promenade, which houses a row of colourful beach huts. In the town, you will find pubs, cafes, tea rooms, museums and a theatre, as well as plenty of accommodation. In the centre of Sheringham is the town clock, built on the site of an 1862 water well.

Cromer
A favourite for families looking for a traditional seaside experience. With great sandy beaches, museums, surfing, plenty of attractions and wonderful walking along the Norfolk Coast Path, Cromer is a great place to visit, any time of the year. Cromer is famous for
its pier, home to a lifeboat station and Pavilion Theatre, where the UK’s only remaining traditional end of the pier variety show takes place each Summer and Winter.
