For the first time, we’ll be visiting Scarborough, the original seaside resort with stunning scenery and glorious beaches.
You can immerse yourself in Scarborough’s history at the 3,000-year-old Scarborough Castle which offers a glimpse into the past while presenting you with some amazing panoramic vistas across its coastline thanks to the vantage point that the castle is situated upon. Play on the grassy headland, and grab a coffee in the Master Gunner’s house.
Another must-see attraction of Scarborough is the Rotunda Museum of Geology, one of the oldest purpose-built museums still in use in the United Kingdom. The curved grade 2 listed building was constructed in 1829 as one of the country’s first purpose-built museums. The museum is full of fascinating objects, from fossils found on East Yorkshire’s Dinosaur Coast to Gristhorpe Man, the skeleton and coffin of a Bronze Age man, which is the best example of a tree burial in Britain.
Venture down to the seafront to enjoy the traditional amusement arcades, ice cream parlours, shellfish stalls, beach huts, and not to forget the glorious beaches which look out onto the vast shimmering expanses of blue.
