How about a trip to Port Sunlight? A village founded by William Hesketh Lever in 1888, built to house Lever’s Sunlight Soap factory workers, but today is home to a fascinating museum, beautiful architecture, a world-class art gallery, stunning parkland and a thriving community.

Port Sunlight

Saturday 5th December 2020

The village is home to more than 900 Grade II listed buildings set in 130 acres of parkland and gardens. More than 30 different architects created the buildings, monuments and memorials we still see today, and nearly every period of British architecture is represented through revival design. The village is a good example of the aesthetic movement, which emphasised visual and sensual qualities of art and design, and the Arts and Crafts Movement, with its emphasis on traditional craftsmanship.

Port Sunlight is the perfect place to unwind, have a peaceful wander, or explore the wide boulevard of The Diamond with its rose gardens, sculpture and charming architecture.

Cardiff

Saturday 5th December 2020

If Wales is the Land of Castles, then Cardiff must be Castle Capital. Visit graceful Victorian shopping arcades, which tempt with independent shops and cafes. Why not visit Cardiff Bay? Cardiff Bay is best-known today for the modern development packed with restaurants, bars and the jewel-in-the-crown, Wales Millennium Centre, a world-class venue for theatre, musicals and live performance. But it’s also one of the most historic parts of Cardiff, the former docklands that built the city as it transported Welsh coal around the world.

Cardiff has a rich history and its past is brought to life in so many ways so come with us to explore the beautiful Welsh capital.

Liverpool

Saturday 5th December 2020

The city has world-class tourist attractions, with more museums and galleries than anywhere else outside of London. Liverpool is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known worldwide as the birthplace of The Beatles.

Whilst in Liverpool why not try a tour from the large choice available, from introductory city tours for the first-time visitor or special interest itineraries, not to mention a great selection of Beatles tours. There are Cathedrals either end of the appropriately named Hope Street, Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King. They are vastly different in architecture but both majestic and beautiful in their own way.

Opened in 2011 is a landmark waterfront building, the Museum of Liverpool is the UK’s first museum dedicated to the history of a city. Visitors can explore how Liverpool’s port, its people and its creative, industrial and sporting history have shaped the city.
